About

John lives in Santa Cruz, California, and grew up in Sunnyvale, California. He has always expressed himself through art. He’s done work in pencil, charcoal, stained glass, and furniture design.

He began painting in watercolors eighteen years ago and is mostly self-taught. He tries to paint daily and has taken classes with such well-known artists as Kay Duffy, Sally Jorgensen, Bill Fravel, Linda Lord, and Sylvia Miller. He’s shown his art in exhibitions in Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, and Sunnyvale, and a collection of his works is on display in the California state capital, in the office of State Senator John Laird.

John believes that the learning process continues through constant involvement. He sells many paintings, now hanging in homes around Northern California.

His travels give him many resources for paintings, subjects from the windmills of La Mancha to the centuries-old cities of Prague and Chartres.

John continues to experiment with gouache, ink, and watercolor crayons and pencils to enhance his paintings.
